Management

H.E.L.P. is governed by its Board of Directors. H.E.L.P.'s officers are a Chair of the Board, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. The officers are chosen and serve at the pleasure of the Board of Directors.

Bob Abelson, CPA Treasurer	Certified Public Accountant with special focus on estate and trust taxation. Member of the California Society of CPA's and the American Institute of CPA's. Past board member of Palos Verdes Chamber of Commerce. Member of the Torrance Kiwanis Club.
Jean Adelsman	Retired Managing Editor, The Daily Breeze. Part-time Lecturer, University of Southern California, Vice President of the Board of the Torrance Cultural Art Center Foundation. Previous volunteer involvement: Community Helpline, RSVP, The Volunteer Center.
J. (Jimi) Katherine Andersen	President, Mackenroth Land Co. Previously: elementary school teacher, remedial reading specialist; art and history museum docent.
Rose Angulo	Associate, OMelveny & Myers LLP. Community service experience includes work with the Emmaus House Community Outreach Center in Atlanta, where she conducted programs, services and advocacy for underprivileged senior citizens.
Helen Dennis Chair	Self-employed specialist on aging, employment and retirement. The "Successful Aging" columnist for The Daily Breeze, lecturer at the USC Andrus Gerontology Center. Editor of two books: Retirement Preparation and Fourteen Steps in Managing an Aging Work Force.
Judith Gonser	Director of Compensation and Benefits, at The Aerospace Corporation where she oversees administration of the programs retirement plans, health and welfare plans and work/life programs. Vast experience in the areas of human resources management and pre-retirement planning and coaching.
Sibylle Grebe, Esq.	Partner in the law firm of Conover & Grebe, LLP, where she practices in areas including probate, conservatorships, estate planning, trust administration and elder law. Served as Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Elder Law Committee and President of the Southern California Council of Elder Law Attorneys.
C. Logan Meyer, MBA Vice Chair	Cross Car Planning, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., Corporate Communications Division. Board member, ThinkEarth! and local ski club. Student mentor and volunteer, The Fulfillment Fund. Previously: Marketing Specialist, Bank of America. United States Peace Corps, Dominican Republic (1992-94).
George Nakano	Formerly represented the 53rd District, the southern coastal region of Los Angeles County, in the California State Assembly. Prior to that, served as a Torrance City Councilman for 14 years. Founded the Torrance Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League and was President of Torrances AARP Chapter.
Julia Parton Secretary	Active on the Board of the South Bay Health Services Federal Credit Union and advisory board of the Salvation Army Crestmont College. Past president, Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club and past publisher for the Palos Verdes Peninsula News.
Pastor John M. Richardson, Sr.	A former Oakland Police Officer and former Substance Abuse Counselor for Teen Challenge. Pastor John Richardson has been actively involved in the City of Hawthorne and has been a member of the Hawthorne Rotary Club for fifteen years. He served as Rotary President for two consecutive terms and has worked with the Hawthorne Police Department Chaplain Program.
Sharon Ryan	Travel agent who owns An Uncommon Journey in Malaga Cove. Active in many community-based organizations, including leadership roles with Palos Verdes Art Center and the Volunteer Center, South Bay-Harbor-Long Beach.
Charles Shumaker	In private practice in real estate with the law firm of Shumaker Morin, LLP. A founder of the Palos Verdes Library Foundation and planning commissioner for Rolling Hills Estates. Serves on the executive committee of the Los Angeles Central City Association and board of the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra.
